Case histories that are presented were indirect diagnostic studies that suggested that the patients had disseminated carcinoma, where, in actuality, they either had no malignancy or localized and still apparently curable malignancies. If these studies had not been questioned, these patients could have been treated incorrectly with palliative measures.
