Abstract Diethylstilbestrol was administered to patients with prostatic carcinoma to establish the relationship between tumor response and urethral cytological response. In the majority of patients the dose of diethylstilbestrol necessary to induce an estrogen effect in the urethral cytology was the same as that necessary for tumor response.
