An unusual case of perirenal fibrous xanthoma (histiocytoma) is presented. Review of the literature reveals that this disease entity is indeed very rare and presents no specific clinical signs and symptoms. Fortunately, the majority of the cases are benign, but there is really no solitary histological feature that can predict the outcome of the disease. Arteriography and microscopical appearance are helpful diagnostic aids.
