The coconut palm, Cocos nucifera L, is grown in almost all the tropical regions of the world. The Nigerian Tall (NT), the Nigerian Dwarf Green (NDG), the hybrid between the Nigerian Tall and the Nigerian Dwarf Green (NT × NDG), and the Malayan Dwarf Yellow (MDY) were the four varieties used for this study. They were grown in the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research main station, Benin City, Nigeria. There was a significant variation in the glucose content of water contained in the nuts of the four varieties, and a positive and significant association between the nut weight and glucose level of both NT × NDG and MDY.
