Kernel oils from different palms of Elaeis oleifera , F 1 hybrids and back‐cross with Elaeis guineensis were analysed for iodine value, fatty acid and triglyceride composition. Kernel oils of F 1 hybrids and back‐cross were close in fatty acid and triglyceride composition to that of E. guineensis. Kernel oils of E. oleifera showed a different triglyceride distribution pattern to that of E. guineensis .
