A rapid method for the determination of sulphur dioxide in dehydrated cabbage, carrot, peas and potato, based on the well‐established Monier Williams distillation technique, is described. Distillation time is reduced to 5 min and sulphur dioxide in the distillate is determined colorimetrically. Recoveries of the additive were comparable with those by the conventional distillation technique.
