Two strains of laying hens have been fed from 28 to 48 weeks of age on approximately isoenergetic diets with similar quantities of methionine and lysine but a range from 10 to 76% of cereals and substitution of corresponding unusual ingredients including dried broiler litter. There was a progressive decline in rate of lay as cereal level was increased but the results seem to be most readily explained in terms of possible toxic effects and morbidity associated with increasing levels of dried broiler litter from nil to 16%.
