The chromium contents of samples of wheat from the principal wheat‐growing areas of Australia were determined, and the ethanol‐extractable (GTF) chromium was determined in a number of these wheats. A variety of other animal feedstuffs were assayed in the same manner. The range of values for total chromium in the wheats was 4–98 ng/g, while the range of percentages of GTF chromium was 7–55 %. Other animal feedstuffs ranged from 20–1000 ng/g total chromium, and from 1 % (meat meal) to 57 % (wheaten hay) for GTF chromium.
