Bronopol was added up to 1.8 kg/t to four forage crops, which were then ensiled in laboratory silos. No apparent benefit was gained from the use of bronopol, either alone or in mixture with formic acid, as an agent for encouraging the primary fermentation or discouraging the secondary (butyric) fermentation in silage.
