A method for the analysis of the tryptophan content of feedstuffs employing sodium hydroxide hydrolysis followed by the spectrofluorimetric estimation of tryptophan is described. Provided the development of the fluorophore is carried out in the absence of light, satisfactory results for a wide range of feedstuffs are obtained.
