Potassic Chilean nitrate, a cheap natural product of northern Chile, was found to support the growth of the unicellular green alga Chlorella pyrenoidosa, a possible sheep fodder supplement in this region. Comparisons with conventional media containing urea or KNO 3 were favourable.
