Removal by ultra‐violet lamp of ethylene and other hydrocarbons produced by bananas

A small, germicidal u.v. lamp was found to destroy ethylene produced by bananas. In addition to ethylene, the fruit produced ethane, propane, propene, isobutane, butane, butene‐2 and isopentane, which were also destroyed by the u.v, lamp.
