A series of halogenated nitro‐ and cyano‐phenols has been synthesised for structure‐activity studies against the liver fluke, Fasciola hepatica. Hie functional groups of the most effective compound, 4‐cyano‐ 2‐iodo‐6‐nitrophenol (nitroxynil), have been modified in several ways.
