Seed proteins of some species of the genera Trjticum and Aegilops have been examined by starch‐gel electrophoresis and by the immunological technique of double diffusion. Results suggest there are appreciable structural resemblances between the storage proteins corresponding to the A, B and D genomes. Visco‐elasticity is associated with all three genomes. It is inferred that the appearance of visco‐elastic proteins is not a recent event in the evolution of the Gramineae.
