Gorse ( Ulex europaeus ) has been shown to be a useful source of protein of good digestibility but to have a high fibre content. Although well provided with calcium and sodium, it proved to contain inadequate amounts of phosphorus and of the more important trace elements. The possible usefulness of the plant as a winter fodder is discussed.
