The behaviour of the separate components of a mixture of ethylene dibromide and methyl bromide was studied during the experimental fumigation of a bag of flour. The rates of penetration of the individual fumigants through columns of flour were also compared. The results obtained are discussed in relation to claims which have been made for the improved efficiency of such mixtures over methyl bromide alone for fumigating milled cereals, with particular reference to the relative amounts of residual bromide likely to be produced.
