An improved method is described for the determination of 0‐200 μg. of nitrogen in plant material by the direct nesslerisation of Kjeldahl digests. Standard reaction conditions are ensured by neutralising each aliquot before colour development. Results obtained from a variety of plant materials show that the proposed method compares well in accuracy with a standard distillation procedure.
