The unsaponifiable matter of an Aleurites montana tung oil (Nyasaland) has been examined and found to contain some 46% of Δ 5 ‐stigrnasten‐3βT‐ol, 9% of α‐tocopherol, 36% of y‐tocopherol, 3% of tocopherol artifact and 0.16% of carotenoid pigment (determined on the original oil). No evidence for the previously reported presence of α‐glyceryl ether or squalene to the extent suggested by former workers was found.
