Tests on the through‐circulation drying of Laminaria longicruris on a semi‐commercial scale in a batch dryer have been made to determine the optimum conditions. There was a maximum feasible loading of approximately 5 lb./cu. ft. for the dryer. The effects of variations in the rate of air flow, of amount of air recirculated, of air‐flow reversal and of temperature (160–220°F) have been studied with particular reference to output and efficiency.
