Analyses have been made of the important major and trace elements in mineral mixtures designed as supplements for milking cows. The results are considered with regard to the probable efficacy of the mixtures in the light of the cow's mineral requirements. No mixture was completely unsatisfactory although in all cases the sodium content was below that regarded as optimum. It is suggested that the data available (by no means complete) concerning the mineral requirements of dairy cows is not used to the best advantage in the design of mineral supplements.
