Various concretions and irregularities occurring on hen egg shells have been studied. The abnormalities may arise owing to excessive quantities of membrane, matrix or cuticular material being deposited during some stage of shell formation. These deposits may or may not affect the general structure of the rest of the shell, but if they do, pseudo‐mammillae and/or internal cuticles may be formed.
