It is known that there is a linear relationship between the crude fibre content of roughages determined by the A.O.A.C. method and their ‘acid‐fibre’ content. The present work shows that there is also a relationship between crude fibre determined by the method laid down in the Fertilizers & Feeding Stuffs Regulations and the 1±5N‐H 2 SO 4 ‐fibre. It is suggested that a relationship between these two variables might better be expressed if a correction be made for the crude protein content of ‘acid‐fibre’ residues.
