A method is described for the extraction and chromatographic separation of tocopherol from pasture. Extraction is carried out using acetone in the cold, and separation is effected by means of double chromatography on magnesia and alumina. Estimation is colorimetric. The method is simple and quantitative and is suitable as a routine procedure. The technical assistance of Miss Fay Frecklington is also acknowledged.
