Colorimetric analysis of the isomers of tetrachloronitrobenzene and evaluation of deposits on the soil obtained from smokes of the 2: 3 : 5 : 6‐isomer (tecnozene)

A survey is made of colorimetric reactions of the isomers of tetrachloronitrobenzene (TCNB) and a specific method of analysis presented for the 2 : 3 : 5 : 6‐isomer. This is based on the methanolysis to nitrite ion in O·IN‐sodium methoxide followed by colorimetric analysis of the nitrite by one of the classical methods. The method has been applied to the determination of deposits obtained from smokes of tecnozene in commercial greenhouses and a series of deposit levels are given for varying types of commercial houses.
