A sample of horsebean ( Vicia faba L.) was analysed for its amino‐acid contents, by chromatography on buffered filter paper. The results were in general agreement with those obtained by microbiological assay and already reported in the literature. The coefficients of variation for the determination of different amino‐acids ranged from 1.5% to 8.5%. Eighteen amino‐acids have been determined similarly in the whole grains of five species of pulses commonly grown in West Pakistan.
