A method for determining the individual tocopherols and associated substances in wheat germ, depending on their ultimate separation by chromatography on filter paper impregnated with liquid paraffin, was presented in detail in Part I. The application of the technique to feeding‐stuffs, such as millers' offals and compound balanced rations, is now described. The assessment of the vitamin‐E activity from the tocopherol pattern is discussed, together with the importance and distribution in the wheat grain, of ε‐tocopherol, the substance running to the monomethylated tocol position on the chromatograms.
