Abstract Kamlolenic acid is shown to be 18‐hydroxyelaeostearic acid and the configuration of the α‐ and β‐isomers is almost completely established. The component acids of Mallotus philippinensis seed oil are reported and the potential use of this material as a drying oil is discussed.
