Abstract Electrodialysis of potassium‐hydrogen clays for one hour in a Marsden cell removed substantially the same amount of potassium from the clays as did leaching with normal ammonium acetate solution (as used for determining exchangeable bases). It is suggested that potassium removed from soil by more prolonged dialysis is derived from non‐exchangeable or fixed forms.
