The Raman spectra of ethanolic solutions of CCl 4 of different concentrations were measured and de‐noised by the wavelet transform method. The results show that noise can be filtered efficiently without changing the peak positions and the linear relationships between the peak intensity and the concentration can be maintained. It was demonstrated that the wavelet transform method can be used efficiently in quantitative analysis of Raman spectra with high noise levels. Copyright © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
