We present accurate measurements for the wavenumbers of the S 0 (0), S 0 (1), and S 0 (2) pure rotational Raman lines in D 2 . Our measurements improve the accuracy of the previously available experimental data by an order of magnitude. They also show complete agreement with the state‐of‐the‐art ab initio calculations of the D 2 rotational splitting, which include both relativistic and Quantum electrodynamics (QED) corrections.
