The ν 1 isotropic Raman spectrum of H 2 S was studied in the dilute gas phase and in the gas and liquid phases along the saturation line (282 ≤ T ≤ T c = 373.4 K). The temperature and density dependence of the hand shift was analysed assuming a strong resonant transfer due to dipolar interactions. A significant rotational contribution prevents a precise study of the vibrational effects on the asymmetric profile observed at ρ < ρ c . A striking critical inhomogeneous broadening is observed as the critical point is approached. Some new results on the v 2 isotropic and anisotropic bands of liquid H 2 S are also presented.
