The resonance Raman and far‐infrared spectra of n ‐Bu 4 NI 3 show the coexistence of symmetrical ( C 2ν ) and unsymmetrical ( C s ) I 3 − species, which are clearly distinguished by varying the wavelength of the excitation line. Only a slight deviation from D ∞ h symmetry has been deduced for the Br 3 − ions in n ‐Bu 4 NB 3 .
