Evaporated thin solid films and Langmuir‐Blodgett monolayers of dysprosium and holmium bisphthalocyanine complexes were prepared and characterized using Raman scattering (RS), surface‐enhanced (resonance) Raman scattering, infrared and visible absorption spectroscopy. The spectroscopic evidence for molecular organization and molecular aggregation in the films is discussed. An empirical vibrational assignment of the observed fundamentals is proposed. Spectroscopic data on chemically oxidized films and films exposed to NO x (NO 2 /N 2 O 4 ) were collected to determine the nature of the interaction between the MPc 2 molecule and the NO 2 .
