Raman and IR spectra of NH 4 Ln(SO 4 ) 2 (Ln = Pr, La) were recorded and analysed. The observed bands indicate a centrosymmetric structure for the crystals. Two crystallographically independent SO 2− 4 groups exist in both compounds. The NH 4 + groups form strong hydrogen bonds.
