The construction of a spectrometer for high‐resolution stimulated Raman spectroscopy is reported and the accuracy of wavenumber determination achievable is discussed. A Doppler‐limited spectrum of the CD stretching band ( Q ‐branch) of the CH 3 D molecule in the 2200 cm −1 region was recorded. Most of the observed transitions have been assigned and some rotational‐vibrational constants have been refined.
