The surface‐enhanced Raman scattering of cyclohexanethiol was investigated in a silver sol. Cyclohexanethiol was found to adsorb dissociatively after losing its thiol proton and adsorption was found to occur via its sulphur atom. Both the equatorial and axial chair conformers were found to exist on the surface at low surface coverage. However, at full monolayer coverage, the equatorial chair was the sole conformation of the adsorbed thiolate. An improved vibrational assignment for the molecule has been made.
