The Raman spectrum of 1,2,4,5‐tetrabromobenzene has been recorded in powder form in the region 100–4000 cm −1 and the IR spectra in nujol mull and a CsI pellet in the region 200–4000 cm −1 . Tentative vibrational assignments have been proposed assuming D 2h point group symmetry. Observation of a number of overtone and combination bands enabled the inactive fundamentals and those fundamentals which were not observed experimentally to be estimated.
