The resonance Raman intensities of methyl orange and brilliant blue FCF in aqueous solutions were measured by using a rotating divided Raman cell which provides an external intensity standard. The logarithms of the apparent intensities of the sample bands revealed a good linear dependence on the light path length. The relative Raman scattering coefficients of the samples with respect to a common reference band were determined from the intercepts. The effects of the excitation wavelength and the presence of surfactant on the apparent Raman intensities and the relative Raman scattering coefficients are discussed.
