New experimental IR and Raman data have been obtained for 5‐aminotetrazole in the solid state and in aqueous solution. The band pattern observed between 1100 and 1000 cm −1 in the Raman spectrum of the hydrated crystals has been interpreted in terms of Fermi resonance of a state associated with the tetrazole ring breathing mode and a two‐phonon state associated with the first overtone of a water libration.
