The influence of hydrostatic pressure on lattice vibrations in single‐crystals of d 0 ‐ and d 8 ‐naphthalene has been measured by observations of their first‐order Raman scattering spectra at pressures in the range 0‐8.5 kbar. Measurements were performed at room temperature for both the external and the internal vibrations. Mode Grüneisen parameters γ i in the range 3‐4.5 and 0.004‐0.25 have been derived for external and internal modes, respectively.
