The resonance Raman spectra of the phenoxy radical and its deuterated species have been observed. The characteristic features of the spectra have been interpreted on the basis of a large contribution from a quinonoid type resonance structure. The assignment of each band is discussed. The effects of ortho and para substitution on the Raman spectra are also discussed.
