The Raman spectrum of a single crystal of monoclinic B‐type ( C   2 h 3 ) gadolinium sesquioxide is presented. The low temperature polarization studies allowed the unambiguous attribution of 20 among the 21 normal modes expected according to the C 2 h factor group analysis predictions.
