Strong resonance enhancement of the Pt(IV)Cl stretching vibration of a single crystal of [Pt(II)‐(en) 2 ][Pt(IV)(en) 2 Cl 2 ](ClO 4 ) 4 has been observed with the incident light vector parallel to the linear chain Pt(IV)Cl ⃛Pt(II)( Z ). This resonance enhancement is much reduced in the E ⟂ Z spectrum where a normal Raman spectrum is also observed. In agreement with these results the visible reflection spectrum with E ‖ Z shows a maximum at 435 nm, which is absent with E ⟂ Z .
