The changes in the Raman spectra of single crystals of (ND 4 ) 2 Cu(OD 2 ) 2 Cl 4 with temperature are indicative of an order–disorder transition, in contradistinction with the results of neutron diffraction. A space‐group deduced for the low temperature phase from a pseudo‐spin model is in agreement with the spectral results.
