The design and performance of a computer controlled high resolution scanning Raman spectrometer system is described. Resolution of 0.05 cm −1 has been achieved with vibration‐rotation bands with single mode laser operation. Pure rotation lines have been observed with 0.04 cm −1 slit widths.
