The polarized Raman spectrum of some oriented glycerol single crystals have been recorded from 115 to 273 K. The LO–TO splittings have been measured for most of the fundamental vibrations. Some results relating mainly to OH vibrations and lattice vibrations, are presented. Hydrogenbonds appear to be preponderant in intermolecular interactions. A calculation of intermolecular force constants has been performed, which confirms this conclusion.
