The gas‐phase Raman spectrum of the v 8 band of ethylene has been analysed for Coriolis perturbation due to a ‐type interaction between v 8 ( b 2 g ) and v 6 ( b 1 g ). The main rotational features in the vibration‐rotation band have been assigned and the analysis yielded v 8 = 940.6 cm −1 , |ζ   6,8 a | = 0.67 ± ± 0.08.
