A FORTRAN program has been developed for the accurate computation of the convolution of a Lorentzian with a Gaussian line shape (the Voigt function). This program has been included in a larger program written by the author to resolve overlapping lines in complex Raman spectra. It has been found that the program is very useful to determine accurate line widths and peak positions from slit‐distorted spectra, which is important in high‐resolution Raman spectroscopy.
