Accumulation of Biogenetic Opal in the A 2 ‐Horizon of a Planosol The planosol examined develops in the centre of Santa Fe Province (Argentine) among Brunizem‐soils, in a depression which sometimes is under water. Its A 2 ‐horizon is dominated by biogenetic opal whose production is favoured by a high content of volcanic glass rich in silicic acid. The horizon is indurated, when dry.
