Human resources professionals have long used employee surveys to help them gain perspective on the many facets of organizational life. Often such surveys are conducted in‐house, without the help of external experts. Based on academic research and established psychometric principles, the step‐by‐step approach presented here focuses on the conceptual development, design, creation, and statistical testing of questionnaires. This process offers human resources professionals a blueprint for creating robust survey questionnaires that yield accurate and useful data.
